Up until a few years ago, I lived by my family mantra -

"I have to die someday, so might as well eat what I want and live happily."

And trust me, eat I did.

I ate all the junk possible and paid the price without even realizing it.  I battled with weight issues, mood swings, polycystic ovary syndrome, acne, water retention, backache, mood swings and a few other health issues.

This kept going on even after I got married and moved away from my family and lived on take outs, since I did not know how to cook well...The wake up call came when my otherwise very "fit" husband's annual blood work, showed signs of pre-diabetes and high cholesterol.

After considerable thought and research, we decided against medication and chose to adopt a clean eating and healthier lifestyle.  I started exploring and cooking food that would help Abhishek better manage his health concerns.  So much so, I interned at the Natural Gourmet Institute (NGI) and learned health supportive cooking from nationally and internationally renowned chefs.

My understanding and relationship with food deepened and I began to appreciate the nutritional value of food and home cooking.  My study, research and my time at NGI taught me FOOD AWARENESS - the fundamental of health that I was missing in life.  I not only learned about the right and wrong way to cook, I also became aware of chief nutrients in food and how they affect the body, common allergens (such as dairy and gluten) and their harmful impact, food and healing and of course mindful eating.

Finally when things were back on track, I suffered from a mentally and physically painful miscarriage, this really shook me and my faith in my body and health.  I decided to get pregnant again but only after I get myself strong and healthy.

The quest of getting healthy led me to the promising world of holistic health and the fabulous program offered by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) where I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world's top health and wellness experts.

Luckily enough even before graduating from IIN, I was pregnant again, and after a tough labor, post surgery infection, a 6 week pre term baby in tow, I put all my faith in whole plant foods and holistic healing for a quick and smooth recovery.

Since then I have embarked on a journey to
make healthy living - clean, simple and
delicious one meal at a time!

I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner and Culinary Coach.

I also hold a BA honors in Advertising from University of Huddersfield
and a Certificate in Creative and Visual Arts from Cambrian College of
Arts and Technology, and have worked successfully for over 10 years as
a Creative Strategist.
